We bring data science into clinical drug trials

Lately we came across a publication on clinical drug trials by Vanda Pogačić Kramp and Paul Herrling (DOI:10.1159/000318238) published in the journal Neurodegenerative Diseases in 2010. In essence the paper lists drugs in development for neurodegenerative diseases over 50 pages with about 700 single entries. We got excited about this type of published raw data and started to extract and visualize it in R. Simply looking at the status of the clinical trials for individual drugs shows great differences across development phases. Further, visualizing such data can provide insights into how the health care sector invests resources into R&D and the type of drugs for neurodegenerative diseases that make it through the bottleneck and into clinical trial.

Datascientist.ch visualizes complex data from the health care sector to improve decision-making process and resource allocation into R&D.
